Bobcat unveils new R2-Series E60 compact excavator

The Bobcat E60 compact excavator joins the R2-Series

The new 6-ton E60 compact excavator is joining Bobcat’s conventional tail-swing, 4-ton E42 and minimal tail-swing, 5-ton E50 models in the company’s R2-Series of earthmoving machines.

Bobcat has added dual flange rollers to the E60 to increase lift-over-side performance and to provide a smoother ride quality for operators, the manufacturer said in a release.

In addition, the design has an optional clamp diverter valve that improves functionality, auxiliary hydraulics that are easier to reach and attach, and a standard integrated lift eye that helps operators handle objects.

The E60 will run on a redesigned Bobcat engine that the company said will improve cold-weather performance. The new engine also includes features to make maintenance and service more convenient.

According to Bobcat, all models in the R2-Series of compact excavators have engines with a new, larger fuel filter that has a longer life and more than double the media surface area.

Bobcat also installed a new cooling system that controls engine compartment temperature more efficiently with side-by-side heat exchangers. The company said cleanout is easier and that the system is quieter.

Operators have the option to add touch display, rear camera, add-on counterweight and high-back heated seats.

The release of the E60 compact excavator comes after Bobcat partnered with Italian rotating telehandler specialist Magni to launch a new range of products in late 2020.
