The Battle Ax (Skid Steer - Series S) attachment from Loftness showcases its mulching capabilities

Loftness has expanded its portfolio of mulching head attachments with the H and S Series Battle Ax models for skid steers.

The 17-inch H Series Battle Ax has a depth gauge design that Loftness said is proven to perform better than any other bite-control rotor. The model also has a two-stage cutting chamber, which is more effective for sizing material than drum mulchers that use hydraulic doors to trap material, according to the manufacturer.

The S Series Battle Ax also has a diameter of 17 inches, and Loftness said the model’s refined and balanced design is durable, efficient and versatile. The S Series also has a two-stage cutting chamber for mulching material.

Loftness said its two-stage cutting chamber is capable of processing material more thoroughly than competitive units by cutting material twice.

The primary shear bar is adjustable, so the clearance can be narrowed or widened depending upon the desired material size and production rate.

According to the manufacturer, the partially reduced material passes smoothly to the secondary cutting chamber behind the front bumper, where it’s processed further before being discharged toward the ground.

The L Series Battle Ax attachment for low-flow skid steers and the Battle Ax mulching head for excavators are also available from Loftness.
