On display this week is the 12,121-lb, 48.8-hp Doosan DX50Z-7 mini excavator which is part of the 5-metric-ton size class

Doosan showed off its new 5-ton DX50Z-7 mini excavator at World of Concrete this week, teasing its availability in the coming months, along with other Next Generation models.

“This is one of our new mini excavators in a lineup we introduced at the end of last year,” explained Aaron Kleingartner, product and dealer marketing manager, Doosan Infracore North America. “They’ll be available in the market in the next couple of months, starting to arrive in dealer lots probably in the next 30 to 60 days.”

Last fall, Doosan announced a completely new lineup of mini excavators is also coming from Doosan in 2022, including three models not previously offered to customers in North America.

On display this week is the 12,121-lb, 48.8-hp Doosan DX50Z-7 mini excavator which is part of the 5-metric-ton size class. Its zero-tail swing design makes it ideal for customers working in confined spaces on construction job sites or landscaping projects. It digs to 11 feet 5 inches, reaches 19 feet, and can load to a height of 12 feet, 6 inches.

“There are a lot of great new features with these machines that are helpful to contractors,” Kleingartner said. “We’ve got standard hydraulics for running a hydraulic coupler available on the machine. It is optional, but it’s easy to add on. We also offer secondary auxiliaries as standard equipment.”

He added, “There are other options available to run more complex attachments, for example rotate kits to run a rotating grapple, if he customer chooses.”

In addition, the new DX50Z-7 also has a bigger cab and more glass surface areas, enhancing visibility, Kleingartner explained.

In 2022, Doosan Infracore North America will introduce a completely new lineup of mini excavators.

“We’ve got machines ranging from 2.7 to 8.5 tons in this size range,” Kleingartner said. “Right now the 2.7, 3.5, 5.0 and 5.5 are the newest models. There will be a 4.2-ton and a 6- and 8-ton machine coming later this fall. We’re excited about bringing these over to this market, replacing our current machines.”

The company said expanding the product line enables Doosan dealers to better serve their customers with more models to fit their needs. These models will include conventional tail swing, reduced tail swing and zero tail swing configurations.

For the first time, the DoosanCONNECT Telematics management system is available as standard equipment on each new Doosan mini excavator.

An enclosed cab with heat and air conditioning comes standard, while a heated adjustable seat is available as an option.

Customers can upgrade to a steel track option for use in job site conditions that may otherwise damage rubber tracks.
