The largest demolition robot in the North American construction market is the 24,361-pound Brokk 800S, which has a 32-foot reach and power on par with a machine three times its size, and New York-based Frederico Demolition is using the 800S for tunneling and specialty operations.
“As innovators in the field of robotic demolition, Brokk is always looking for forward-thinking businesses that understand the value our equipment provides,” said Lars Lindgren, president of Brokk Inc., which designs and manufactures remote-controlled demolition machines “Frederico Demolition has a long history of bringing the right tools to the jobsite for optimal safety and efficiency in every project they take on,” Lindgren said.
Lindgren said the 800S’ power-to-weight ratio opens up opportunities for heavy-duty construction demolition in confined spaces and urban areas.
Brokk’s 800S features a three-part arm that couples maneuverability with an attachment capacity on par with much larger equipment, according to the manufacturer.
For heavy-duty demolition, the 800S can be equipped with the 2,646-pound Epiroc MB 1200 breaker, an attachment usually recommended for 33,000- to 57,000-pound excavators.
Brokk said the 800S can be used with concrete crushers, drum cutters, grapples, buckets, drilling equipment and metal shears, as well for maximum application flexibility.
Frederico Demolition – which provides mass, structural and concrete demolition, in addition to disaster recovery and environmental cleanup services – has grown its fleet of robotic demolition equipment, and the 800S is the firm’s seventh addition.
“To provide exemplary results every time, you need the right tools for the job; for us, that’s Brokk demolition robots,” said Mark Frederico, owner of Frederico Demolition. “Our Brokk robots provide a lot of power in a small package, which allows us to bring a hard-hitting machine into a tight space. The range of attachments also increases our versatility to tackle a variety of specialty demolition projects.”
Brokk Inc. supports contractors with its remote-controlled demolition machines from three locations throughout North America: Monroe, Wash.; St. Joseph, Mo.; and Stanhope, N.J.
