Hyundai Senior Product Manager Mike Fuller shows off Hyundai’s latest mid-range excavator at The Utility Expo 2021 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Powered by a Cummins B6.7 Stage 5/Tier 4 Final diesel engine, the 40,000-lb HX160A L produces 152 net horsepower.

The new excavator is part of the A-Series and features three track options and comes standard with a 1 cubic yard bucket and heavy counterweight which gives it what the company says is maximum lifting capacity over the front and side of the machine.

Features common across all A-Series excavators include:

  • Lift mode to provide precise control when needed by simultaneously controling power/speed and maintaining it throughout the lift cycle
  • Auto safety lock to prevent unintended hydraulic operation
  • Optional All Around View Monitoring (AAVM) system to provide a 360° aerial view around the machine and can be coupled with Intelligent Moving Objects Detection (IMOD)
  • IMOD to alert the operator to the presence of anything within a 16.5-ft. range of operation with an audible alarm and color changes via the 8-in. monitor
