Komatsu’s PC88MR-11 ‘midi’ excavator lowers fuel usage by 13%

Komatsu’s PC88MR-11 ‘midi’ excavator features a new high-efficiency power package and viscous fan clutch that work together to lower overall fuel consumption by up to 13%.

What’s more, according to Komatsu, a simplified catalytic system removes soot without a diesel particulate filter, resulting in lower maintenance and lower cost of ownership.

The compact size of the PC88MR-11 makes it easy to transport while its reduced tail swing radius allows it work efficiently on roadways, bridges, urban areas, or anywhere space is limited. Its swing boom design allows digging parallel to buildings or barriers.

The 67.7-hp excavator has standard high flow auxiliary hydraulics with proportional joysticks to increase versatility while providing precise attachment control. Standard grading blade with new moldboard profile is intended to improve backfilling and light grading efficiency.

Six working modes allow operators to tailor the machine to the tasks required, whether for performance or fuel savings.

Meanwhile, operators can enjoy the cab which is designed to be quiet and comfortable with climate control, air suspension seat, Bluetooth radio, and high-resolution monitor with rearview camera. The sliding cab door makes entry and exit easier in confined spaces and LED lights provide improved vision at night.

The midi PC88MR-1 is at the large end of Komatsu’s line of seven small excavators.
