Doosan introduces four redesigned -7 Series crawler excavators built to withstand high-impact work, thanks to a number of areas that have been beefed up for improved performance.

Next-generation models DX140LCR-7, DX225LC-7, DX255LC-7 and DX350LC-7 feature a strengthened work group with reinforced castings and forged-steel pivot points, as well as a Y-shaped seal at the end of the excavator arm to provide better sealing to the bucket connection for more durability.

Doosan added material to the excavator’s mainframe for higher performance and job site versatility. The company said its excavators’ X-Chassis undercarriage further enhances durability and stability, while the track chain is sealed and self-lubricating for reduced maintenance.

Cast-steel, heavy-duty sprockets are designed to stand up to challenging work environments, and track rollers and idlers are provided with oil level check plugs to maximize machine uptime.

Speaking of productivity, the -7 Series crawler excavators (14 metric ton to 25 metric ton) offer an upgraded, cast push link with a reinforced lifting eye that delivers a five-metric-ton lifting capacity. This design allows operators to remove an attachment and lift directly to fully utilize the machine’s lifting capacity.

New for the -7 Series is the fine swing function which minimizes the shaking of a lifted object that occurs at the beginning or end of the swing movement. Operators can activate it for greater control and accuracy in certain lifting applications. This feature is designed to improve safety in pipe laying and maintain the bucket heap to maximize productivity.

Inside the machine, the redesigned models are built to reduce noise and vibration. Features include an optional air-suspension seat that is heated and cooled, ergonomically designed joystick controls and a new 8-inch Smart Touch screen which allows operators to monitor critical machine functions and control machine settings, rearview camera, heating and cooling, radio and Bluetooth wireless technology.

The optional 360-degree all-around view monitoring (AVM) camera system displays a full view of the machine’s surroundings to give operators greater confidence when operating or positioning the machine in tight work areas.

The DoosanCONNECT Telematics system comes standard on all -7 Series crawler excavators. 

Doosan announced last year it will now offer the Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform for Excavators as an optional factory-installed machine control solution for the North American market.

In related news, Doosan’s new -7 Series mini excavators became available through dealers in the U.S. and Canada this spring. The first four models include the zero tail swing DX27Z-7, DX35Z-7 and DX50Z-7, as well as the reduced tail swing DX55R-7.
