VIDEO: Life-sized Hot Wheels highlight Cat services, initiatives in latest ‘Trials’ video
September 29, 2021

Who doesn’t have childhood memories of playing with Hot Wheels?
Caterpillar played on that universal signpost of youth in the latest installment to its popuar Cat Trials video series.
In Cat Trial 11: Hot Wheels, we not only see how Next Generation wheel loaders were used to create the epic playground for the life-size toy cars, but we’re also asked to appreciate the importance of play in the future of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Whether your memories involved endless adventures in the sandbox, or hours spent creating the most challenging track setups you could imagine, now you can watch it all come to life.
Caterpillar brought in professional stunt drivers, track designers and equipment operators from around the country, leaning on Cat machines and technology to turn those memories into present-day reality. They included:
- Thomas Brown – Morgan Corp.
- Edgardo Montano – ER Jahna
- Ryan Hinojosa – Silver Creek Materials
- Tia Shadley – Illinois Civil Contractors Inc.
- Anthony Alonzo – Wells Excavation
- Teresa Braun – N.E. Finch Co.
One of the intentions behind Cat Trial 11 is to highlight the power of play in education. The Caterpillar Foundation realizes play builds confidence, which is critical to building the next generation of innovators, leaders, educators and professionals. Jobs in science and technology are becoming more and more critical for tackling global challenges.
Part of the Caterpillar Foundation’s strategy is to focus on human infrastructure, which includes investing in programs to advance workforce readiness, skills development and STEM education.
In addition, Cat Trial 11: Hot Wheels also highlights Cat services on five cars:
Baja Truck/Certified Rebuild - A rebuilt vehicle can do anything a new one can… like big jumps. The baja truck highlights the Cat Certified Rebuild Program which returns end-of-life machines, systems and components to like-new condition at a fraction of the cost of

buying new.
Buggy/Self-Service Options – Sometimes it just makes sense to do your own repairs and maintenance. The Cat Trial 11 buggy features Cat Self-Service Options which offer a range of common repair options, packaged with what you need to do the work yourself — in your shop or in the field.
Loop Car/Hoses & Couplings – Hoses and Couplings are critical components that carry the lifeblood of hydraulic equipment, so hose reliability can make a huge difference in your operation. Featured on one of the loop cars, Caterpillar said it’s the only OEM that supplies its own hoses, couplings and assembly kits.
Loop Car/Cat Financial – Cat Financial and the Cat Card offer a fast and easy way to pay for parts, service, rentals and more. Featured on one of the loop cars, it allows multiple users on one account and expense tracking by job, plus service and support from a dedicated Cat Financial Cat Card customer support team.
Rip Rod/Repair Options – A Hot Wheels version of the Cat Dealer Service truck highlights the Repair Options Cat provides to make sure customers have what they need, no matter where they need it. Customers can choose from five levels of Repair Options.
And the Cat Rental Store supplied the genset that powered the Hot Wheels Power Booster… giving the cars that extra boost needed to do some amazing drifts.
