VIDEO: ‘Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls’

EquipmentShare is observing National Safety Month with a new initiative called 7 Seconds of Safety (7SOS) to educate construction professionals about staying safe on the job. In this installment, the focus is on ‘Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls.’

According to OSHA, slips, trips and falls account for nearly 700 deaths each year, and almost all workers’ compensation injuries.

EquipmentShare, a fast-growing equipment rental and technology company, said 7SOS was created to remind employees that taking as little as seven seconds to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you will help protect the industry’s most important assets – its people.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), 1,061 construction fatalities were reported in 2019, accounting for one in five worker deaths.

“Making sure people get home safe and asking employees to stop what they are doing — no matter what it is — if they see something unsafe says a lot about our leadership,” Byron Adkins, safety and DOT compliance director for EquipmentShare, said. “I’m beyond proud to work for a company and a leader who puts people first over anything else.”

Other 7SOS topics include:

  • Distracted driving
  • Situational awareness and safety in the job site
  • Seatbelt safety
