Case G Series loaders deliver optimum machine performance, intelligence

Case G Series wheel loaders feature new enhancements

In a live online event for customers, Case Construction Equipment introduced enhancements to its full line of G Series wheel loaders, including a standard touchscreen display and adjustable electro-hydraulic controls, as well as optional fully integrated OEM payload system and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

“Wheel loaders — especially those in production and heavy working environments — achieve significant improvements in performance and profitability when you shorten cycle times, simplify operation and increase uptime,” says Andrew Dargatz, product manager, Case Construction Equipment. “Each of the enhancements introduced in the new Case G Series loaders drive those incremental improvements that lead to big gains in productivity and efficiency.”

Touchscreen display

Among the new enhancements standard to the Case G Series wheel loader lineup, which includes seven models (521 through 1121) ranging from 142 to 347 gross horsepower, include an all-new touchscreen display designed to deliver an intuitive user experience while putting all core operational controls at the operator’s fingertips.

Designed to provide tablet-like performance, the display is meant to simplify performance and allow operators to adapt more quickly to real-time conditions. 

“Our display was already pretty powerful, but the true touchscreen capabilities on each G Series loader make operation and access to critical settings and operating information even easier, and it serves as a gateway to many of the new features we’re showing you here today,” Dargatz said. 

Among those are the all-new adjustable electro-hydraulic controls that allow the operator to independently set lift (boom) and tilt (bucket) responsiveness to match operator preference and loading situations. Each function can be independently tuned to smooth, moderate or aggressive settings within the new touchscreen monitor.

“Put simply, the ‘smooth’ setting gives you the most control and deliberate movement, such as when loading pallets of brick or block,” he explained. “’Moderate’ is a factory setting and provides more standard responses, while ‘aggressive’ provides the most immediate response to the joystick operation. These settings allow the operator to really dial in those independent movements to their preference.”

Further customization is offered through three new color-coded configurable buttons on the right armrest that allow operators to more quickly, and with minimal movement, interact with preprogrammed machine settings or functions. These settings are determined by the operator and can include critical functions/displays such as the all-new payload screen, rearview camera, differential lock or declutch, and strobe activation.

“These advances, combined with the ergonomic design of the joysticks and the operator station, centralize total operation of the loader for improved operator performance and focus, and reduced fatigue,” Dargatz said.

Just two power modes

Power modes were simplified to two: Max and Smart. The new Smart mode delivers high performance and enhanced operating experience through improved communication between the engine and transmission.

“This helps achieve smoother shifting and reduced tire wear, and up to 10% fuel savings when compared to Max mode,” Dargatz said. “Make no mistake, Smart delivers a ‘set it and forget it’ type of power mode to provide the performance you demand and the savings that you’ll appreciate.”

OEM payload system

Options available on the enhanced G Series models include the fully integrated OEM payload system designed to improve load accuracy and provide detailed reporting for billing, tracking and operational performance.

“This is a marriage of technology, connectivity and productivity,” Dargatz said. “It’s purpose built, this is not an aftermarket solution tacked on after the purchase. It’s built by Case for these loaders. Also, it simplifies the acquisition process. It comes installed with the purchase of the machine, you can finance it, and there’s no downtime for the installation.”

The new payload system allows operators to precisely load each truck to reduce over/under loaded situations. 

“You can also track history by customer truck material, as well as provide ticket histories,” Dargatz noted. 

SiteWatch telematics

The new payload system also interacts directly with the newly enhanced Case SiteWatch telematics platform to further improve total connectivity and operational intelligence.

SiteWatch comes standard for three years on each new Case G Series wheel loader as part of Case ProCare. It features an all-new dashboard, more intuitive navigation and new overview sections that spotlight critical information without requiring the user to search for the data.

SiteWatch, when matched with the new SiteConnect Module and the newly enhanced G Series, enables more dynamic collection and analysis of data, as well as full integration with the all-new integrated payload system to provide payload reports, ticket details and overall performance information.

“Uptime and responsiveness are primary drivers when it comes to heavy construction equipment consideration, and the advances brought to the Case G Series with remote diagnostics and the ability to update software and clear codes remotely will significantly shorten any downtime events experienced by the owner/operator,” says Dargatz.

“This will significantly improve uptime for the machine owner and will allow the dealer to better understand the status or issue at hand, resolve the issue faster, and will save the dealer hours in travel time and expense associated with trips to the field for what may be simple updates that can now be done remotely in a matter of minutes.”

Case accomplishes this through the new SiteConnect Module along with the new SiteManager App (iOS and Android). This app pairs your phone or device to the machine to enable remote analysis. Certified Case technicians then diagnose the health of each connected machine through various parameter readings and fault codes — and the technician makes a determination as to whether the issue can be addressed remotely or if it requires a trip to the machine.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

As with any truck or car, tire health and performance has a significant effect on overall performance, tire and component life, and fuel efficiency — especially when driving on underinflated tires. The all-new Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) features individual sensors that mount to the valve stem of each tire along with a receiver module that communicates the pressure for each tire onto the display and alerts the operator when the tire pressure is outside of a set range.

Engine

Introduced in 2016, Case G Series wheel loaders are powered by FPT engines that were among the first to meet Tier 4 Final diesel exhaust regulations through the use of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emission technology which requires no diesel particulate filter (DPF) or regeneration.

The Case-exclusive mid-mounted Case cooling cube module features coolers positioned in a cube design that ensures access to clean and cool ambient air, while also limiting debris buildup. A programmable auto reversing fan allows air to be reversed to minimize downtime due to manual cleaning.

Serviceability is also improved as the cooling module allows the engine to be moved farther to the rear of the machine and lower to the ground, making it easier for operators to complete daily checkpoints.

Dargatz said all of the design and enhancements to the G Series “were driven by direct feedback from customers and dealers — from the tires to the bucket to the engine and to the controls — to provide comprehensive connectivity and systems improvement that will increase productivity and uptime while decreasing all of the operational elements that drag on performance and profitability.”
